Serving Cornell’s student athletes
Student athletes can now access Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) support on site at Lynah Rink.
This new CAPS location is part of Cornell Health's Embedded Therapist Services, through which ongoing mental health support is provided from “satellite” offices at different campus locations. The goal is to supplement CAPS’ offerings at Cornell Health with convenient, on-site services tailored to specific student audiences.
Embedded therapist services at Lynah Rink are ...
- offered by CAPS counselor Taylor Lester, LMHC
- provided at 103 Lynah Rink, and via Zoom (see services and hours below)
- designed to meet the needs of varsity student-athletes, but open to all students
- offered to supplement Cornell Health's full breadth of services
Services include:
- "Let's Talk" drop-in consultation (free)
- Individual counseling ($10 visit charge)
Please check back for information about additional future offerings, including group counseling and workshops. Offerings may also be shared directly with varsity student-athletes through existing athletics communications channels.
More CAPS services:
In addition to the embedded therapist services available at Lynah Rink, student athletes can also access Let's Talk sessions and individual counseling with other therapists, as well as Cornell Health's group counseling and CAPS workshops (see all CAPS services).
"Let's Talk" drop-in consultation
Let’s Talk is a drop-in service that allows students to consult informally with a Cornell Health counselor without an appointment. Consultations are offered first-come, first-served, and are typically about 20-25 minutes in length. (Note that Let's Talk is not a substitute for counseling, and not appropriate for urgent concerns or mental health emergencies.) Learn more about Let's Talk.
- Taylor’s Spring 2025 Let’s Talk hours will be available soon.
Students may also access other Let's Talk hours, locations, and providers. See our main Let's Talk page for details.
Individual counseling
Taylor provides single-session therapy and short-term individual counseling from her office at 103 Lynah Rink. She also offers counseling appointments via telehealth (telehealth appointments are provided through a HIPAA-protected Zoom platform, accessed through our secure patient portal, myCornellHealth).
Students wishing to schedule a counseling appointment with Taylor should first schedule a CAPS access appointment. During this free 25-minute appointment, you can discuss your concerns with an access counselor, and request a counseling appointment with Taylor.
To schedule a CAPS access appointment:
- Log in to myCornellHealth using your Cornell NetID and password, and select "Appointments"
- Or call Cornell Health during business hours to speak with a scheduler: 607-255-5155
Follow-up counseling appointments may be scheduled with Taylor directly, or by calling 607-255-5155.
Student athletes may also ask to schedule counseling appointments with other Cornell Health therapists. Learn more on our Individual Counseling page.
